All OQHA members will have received the Ontario Breeders
Futurity Proposal in the mail in November. This new futurity is
what we hope will eventually be replacing the Ontario Quarter
Horse Breeders Futurity. As discussed previously and agreed upon
by the membership, the OQHBF was no longer a viable venue and
the format was no longer working for the Quarter Horse industry
here in Ontario. The number of stallions donated as well as the
amount of entries has been significantly decreasing over the
last number of years, and it was no longer financially viable.
The OQHBF will be grandfathered out as of 2014 when the
weanlings of 2011 will become 3 year olds.
This new
format has been reviewed by many of our members, and has been
tweaked to what we hope will be appealing to many of Ontario
breeders/owners. The plan is to run the new futurity in parallel
with the OQHBF until 2014, at which time the Ontario Breeders
Futurity will completely replace the old format.
This new
proposal will be voted on at the OQHA Annual General Meeting on
January 14th at the Arden Park Hotel in Stratford Ontario. This
is your opportunity to speak your thoughts and concerns and to
ensure there is a viable futurity and an outlet for our
membership to showcase their offspring and prospects.

new proposal can be found
