Sherrill Tisdale

OQHA President

Sherrill and her husband Bill are currently both retired and live in Princeton, Ontario.  

Sherrill has been involved with horses for many years, serving on the Area 2 Board, the Ontario Quarter Horse Breeder's Futurity as Secretary, the OQHA Board and is a certified AQHA Show Manager/Secretary.  

She is looking forward to the 2019 show season!

Klaus Zabel

1st Vice President

Klaus spent his high school years in Dundas Ontario, then went to York University, graduating in 1973. He became a Chartered Accountant in 1977 and spent the next 15 years working in Senior Financial positions for major corporations, mostly in the financial services industry.

After spending three or four years consulting to many of those same companies Klaus joined his wife’s financial services business which they managed until 2011 when they sold the business intending to retire. Instead Klaus got involved in a Harley Davidson dealership in Mississauga that a friend owned. He sold that business in 2017.

Klaus’s interest in horses and riding started ten years ago when his daughter Amber started riding as did  his wife Marlene and himself. As riding and showing became a bigger part of Amber’s life, horses and all things around horses became a bigger part of Klaus & Marlene’s lives.

In addition to supporting Amber’s showing what little free time Klaus has left is spent playing golf, riding his Harley, making furniture, reading and helping friends with business issues.

Andrew Dewar

2nd Vice President

Andrew Jacob Dewar lives in Orillia, Ontario. He was born on November 3rd, 1980. He is an AQHA professional horseman, and owner/ operator of Dewar Performance Horses, which  is run out of the beautiful facility of Maplehaven Farm in Orillia. Andrew has been riding since he was very young. Andrew studdied the Equine sciences at Olds College in Alberta. From there, he moved down south to work with many well known horse trainers such Bob Loomis, Dwayne Latimer, Garry and Kelly Roberts, Troy Compton, John Dean, and Bruce Vickory. Andrew is constantly learning and bettering his training skills through the knowledge and advice from many influential quarter horse professionals. Andrew started his own training business in 2006 and has been striving since. He is always happy to help out new and existing members to achieve their showing dreams.

Pete Hammer

Past President

Pete and his wife Sharon have been raising and showing quarter horses for over 30 years. Pete purchased a halter gelding last year and returned to the show pen. Pete has been on the OQHA and OQHBF boards for past 5 years.  Pete and Sharon live on a farm near Kitchener, where they stand their stallion, Designed By Secret.

Suzy Glaab


Suzy resides in Tavistock, Ontario with her Husband Shawn and two dogs. Suzy has been involved with horses her entire life, during her younger years her family had a six horse hitch of Belgians they showed across Canada and the United States. As a teenager Suzy's interest turned to riding and showing Quarter horses, she is grateful to have had the opportunity to breed and show quarter horses for many years. Suzy hopes to one day have opportunity to return to the show pen. Until that time she happy to continue to stay involved with the industry through her position on the Area 2 Board of Directors, as well as her new position at OQHA secretary. Suzy is also a Show Secretary and can be seen in the office at many Quarter Horse shows. She is also involved with the Ontario All Breed Futurity Series.  When not busy with horse related duties Suzy enjoys crafting and selling her creations at local craft shows.

Sheila Easton


Sheila loved horses from an early age and competed in western and speed events.  She and her husband Bill owned and operated Dawn-Glo Stables and Dawn-Glo Leather. There they offered trail riding, pony parties, a petting zoo, and bed & breakfast. She has also been the coordinator for the C.E.E.A.A wholesale trade market for exhibitors of equestrian products worldwide for many years now.  Sheila also sewed show clothing for her children and grandchildren and is affectionately known as the Sewing Grandma. Sheila is the proud grandma of Amanda & Taylor Martini who have been OQHA members for several years now.

Kathy Patterson 

AQHA Director 

Kathy Patterson and her husband Dan own and operate Twin Bells Ranch in Bornholm, Ontario. She started riding Quarter Horses as a young girl sorting cattle on the family farm. Kathy has been Youth Advisor and active board member of OQHA for many years and received the OEF People Make a Difference Award in 2004 and in 2008 as the recipient of the AQHA Most Valuable Professional. She was inducted into the OQHA Hall of Fame in 2013. Kathy is the AQHA Director for Ontario and has served on the AQHA Youth Committee since 2004

Mary Moore

Area 1 Director

Mary Moore lives in Sarnia, Ontario. Mary was born into a family that raised and raced standardbreds so horses have always been a part of Mary's life. Mary has been an OQHA member and Area 1 member since 1994 and has been an Area 1 board member since 1999. Mary is retired from the Sarnia Police Service after 33 years as their Court Co-ordinator. Mary owns a quarter horse gelding named Huntin for Hotties aka Waylon!!

Corey Taylor

Area 3 Director 

Corey bought her first quarter horse in 1975 , six months after she got married. She later got into thoroughbreds and showed hunters until she bought her next QH in 1996..........And the rest is history!!! She's been showing on the QH circuit ever since! She is past president of the Area 3 Board.

Greg Dubiel

Area 2 Director

Greg and his wife Danielle own and operate Westwind Acres in Cambridge, Ontario.  They offer boarding services and breed western pleasure and hunt seat quarter horses.  Greg has enjoyed showing halter and longe line events but hopes to venture more into the riding classes in 2019.  

This is Greg’s first year on the OQHA board of directors and also on the OAQHA board of directors. He looks forward to serving the membership.

Pat Chamberland

Area 3 Director

Pat has been an OQHA member for as long as she can remember! She thinks it was in the 1980s when she first became a member.
Pat lives in Orillia Ontario, where she is an assistant trainer and coach at Dewar Performance Horses.
She's looking forward to seeing a successful 2018 Show Season!!

Liz Dunlevy

Area 3 Director 

Liz and her husband Dan, with their youngest daughter Abigail and their 3 dogs live in Oro-Medonte. After an extensive career within the Criminal Justice System, Liz's days are now filled with horses, family life, and working with clients. Liz joined the OQHA in 2015. Although horses had been a part of various stages of her life both in the UK and Canada, she had never been a part of a breed club or association. What began as a family adventure quickly became a mother/daughter adventure.  
Liz purchased her first Quarter Horse, THISSECRETSAKEEPER  "Harley" in 2014 as a 3yr old. Harley, who is now 8yrs old is the much loved and trusted show partner to her daughter Abigail. 
Realizing that she had lost her show partner to her daughter, Liz purchased HESWILLYSOCIAL "Putter" as a yearling and looks forward to showing him this year as a 4 yr old. Liz is excited to return to the show circuit after two years of playing the very important role of show mom. Today’s youth are tomorrow’s leaders! Liz is currently active on the Area 3 Board, the OAQHA Board and the OQHA Board.  Here’s to a great season ahead, great friends, great food and great rides!!

Alyson Blackmore

Area 4 Director

Alyson resides in Omemee, Ontario. She is a rookie to both the OQHA circuit and showing Quarter Horses. She will be showing with her equine partner Paid To Blaze again this year. 

As this is Alyson’s first year on the board, she is looking forward to learning more about the association and how she may contribute to the associations’ distinction.

Kennedy Almas

Director at Large

Kennedy resides in Hagersville. She has been showing the OQHA circuit since 2007. Many may remember her beloved palomino gelding Gramas Inhertiance “Shamrock” who she showed in the youth and amateur all around events. She will be showing her new mount Touch of Rain this year in the western all around events. This will be her first year on the board, she is in the OQHA and the amateur board and is looking forward to learning more and contributing to the association.

Sharon Hammer

Sharon and her husband Pete have been raising and showing quarter horses for over thirty years.  Sharon is on the OQHBF board.  Sharon enjoys showing in the All Around events.  When not going to horse shows, Sharon enjoys spending time with family and her three grandchildren.  Good Luck to everyone in 2019!!

Darcy Woods

Darcy has been riding and showing at the AQHA shows for as long as she can remember. Starting in leadline her love of horses was passed down from her mom and as a 13 and under she began showing the all-around events with her youth horse Zippo Come Lately. Darcy recently graduated to the amateur division and looks forward to seeing the future successes of her new three-year-old VS Shes a Flatliner. Currently she studies English at Wilfrid Laurier University and is entering her third year of University. During the winter, when she is not showing horses Darcy plays for the Laurier Varsity Ringette team.

Amanda Sullivan


Amanda has been involved with Quarter Horses for over 20 years. Her passion for horses, dogs, and art has fueled her career and non-traditional lifestyle.  She holds an MFA (Masters in Fine Art) from Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, NY and a BFA (Bachelors in Fine Art) from The College for Creative Studies in Detroit, MI. She currently works in loss preventions and does graphics & web design under the  AmandaSullivan.Net umbrella.  Sullivan now enjoys showing her Smooth Collies since she is not currently showing horses.
