2018 OAQHA Board

Sheryl Chillson


Sheryl Chillson lives in Brockville, Ontario where she works in Inside Sales for a water treatment company and she and her husband operate a dog boarding facility.  She began showing Quarter Horses in 1990 and has volunteered on the OAQHA and EOQHA Board of Directors for several years.  Sheryl will be showing her gelding Isaac “The Petite Secret” again this year and will enjoy spending time with her two fillies born this spring.  Wishing everyone a successful 2018!

Rianna Storey

Vice President

Rianna Storey, a recent graduate of New Mexico State University, currently resides in Cambridge, Ontario. Heavily involved within the Quarter Horse Industry since she was born, Rianna fondly remembers beginning to show Leadline at the age of 4. As 2018 is upon us, she will be show her gelding, So Simple So Good, in the Amateur All-around events.

Tracy Beck


Tracy resides on a farm in Chatham with her husband Larry.  She works as a dental hygienist.  She started showing her first horse, an appaloosa when she was 15 and then moved to quarter horses when she met her husband in 1974.   Tracy has been involved in the Area 1 QHPA since its inception and she enjoys showing all-around horses with a passion for trail.  She sat the sides lines for several years while being horse show mom to Kristy and Jolene but has been back in the saddle with her last 2 horses Proud To Be Certain and most recently Bettythebatcatcher.

Shelley Thomson


Shelley lives on a farm with her husband Jim near Oil Springs, ON. With the help of their children, they have been raising and showing American Quarter Horses for more than 30 years. Shelley started with a pony at age 3 and began showing at age 10. Her current show partners are her black gelding Taylored By Tabu(Taylor), her bay gelding Zipn Hollywood Style(Lancer) and her 2-year-old bay filly Tyed With A Bow(Belle). She is the OAQHA secretary, MWHS treasurer as well as a board member for Area 1 QHPA, Tri County Horse Club and chairman of the Light Horse Shows at Brigden Fair.

Mallory McKewen

Past President

Mallory resides in Waterloo Ontario where she runs an e-commerce company called BridesMade. She has been involved with Quarter Horses since birth, beginning to show at the OQHA shows (particularly Eastern Ontario) as a lead liner. She currently competes with her 4-year-old gelding Cool Lookin Ladysman in the amateur all-around events.

Kristy Beck

Director - Area 1

Kristy has been riding and competing her entire life, starting with the lead line back in the early 1990's.  Currently, Kristy lives and works in London, but travels regularly to her parents' farm in Chatham to ride.  Kristy shares a horse, Bettythebattcatcher, with her mom Tracy.  Kristy is also Vice President of the Area 1 Quarter Horse Promotional Association.

April Souwand

Director - Area 2

April Souwand lives just outside of Cambridge, working in municipal government. She's been a member of OQHA for 40 years, showing her quarter horses in the all-around events. She has been on the executive of OAQHA, OQHA and Area 2 over the years. Her show partner for the last 9 years has been a sorrel gelding "Only A Party For Two". She looks forward to serving on the OAQHA board in 2018.

Kennedy Almas

Director - Area 2

Kennedy resides in Hagersville. She has been showing the OQHA circuit since 2007. Many may remember her beloved palomino gelding Gramas Inhertiance “Shamrock” who she showed in the youth and amateur all around events. She will be showing her new mount Touch of Rain this year in the western all around events. This will be her first year on the board, she is in the OQHA and the amateur board and is looking forward to learning more and contributing to the association.

Liz Dunlevy

Director - Area 3

Liz Dunlevy lives near Orillia, Ontario. Liz began showing quarter horses 5 years ago in Area 3 after receiving “Harley”- Thissecretsakeeper as a Mother’s Day gift. Liz’s show goals are focused on Amateur Trail classes. 
Liz’s youngest daughter, Abigail now shows “Harley” in the all-around events while Liz is working with her new young gelding “Putter” - HesWillySocial. 
Both Liz and Abigail look forward to a fun 2018 show season and wish all exhibitors the very same.

Corey Taylor

Director - Area 3

Corey bought her first quarter horse in 1975 , six months after she got married. She later got into thoroughbreds and showed hunters until she bought her next QH in 1996..........And the rest is history!!! She's been showing on the QH circuit ever since! She is past president of the Area 3 Board.

Alyson Blackmore

Director Area 4

Alyson resides in Omemee, Ontario. She is a rookie to both the OQHA circuit and showing Quarter Horses. She will be showing with her equine partner Paid To Blaze again this year. 

As this is Alyson’s first year on the board, she is looking forward to learning more about the association and how she may contribute to the associations’ distinction.

Christine St. Jean

Director - Area 6

Christine St Jean lives in Val Gagne Ontario and runs a small hobby farm Valley Performance Horses she also works at Timmins and District Hospital as a Medical Laboratory Technician, she's been a member of OQHA for over 25 years, she had many successful futurity horses and is looking forward to the next one.  She currently competes with Zippers Graduate aka Colby a 11-year-old mare in the All Around Amateur events.

Suzanne Pestano

Director At Large

Suzanne resides in Brantford Ontario and has been involved in the quarter horse industry since 1994.  She enjoys competing with her show partner "Imaslowlopinsophie" in both the novice and select classes. Suzanne also holds a seat on the Ontario Quarter Horse Association board and wishes everyone much success for the 2018 show season.

Cynthia Glover

Director At Large

Cynthia Glover lives in Elgin Ontario. She owns and operates “Young Signs” a sign business started in 1992 by herself when her maiden name was YOUNG! She helps David, her husband with the family Marina. Cynthia has been a member of the Ontario Quarter Horse Association since she started showing in 1990. She is currently showing Lazy N Shy, aka Shazy. Cynthia has been sharing Shazy with her 10-year-old daughter Madison. In 2018 Madison has a “new to her” horse Mister Zantam aka Dennis. For those who don’t know, Dennis was Cynthia’s show partner for many years. Cynthia is a director at large this year for the 2018 executive.  Best of luck to all the OQHA, OAQHA and OQHYA members this season.

Jessica Mosley Cairncross

Director At Large

Jessica has ridden for her whole life. Starting in the hunter jumper ring she gained an appreciation and love for horses. After buying her first AQHA gelding in 2000 she has been a part of the AQHA show pen ever since. Jessica can be found at many Ontario and US shows showing in her favourite classes; showmanship, trail and western riding with Ozzie “Simply A Rapstar”.

Greg Dubiel

Director At Large

Greg and his wife Danielle own and operate Westwind Acres in Cambridge, Ontario.  They offer boarding services and breed western pleasure and hunt seat quarter horses.  Greg has enjoyed showing halter and longe line events but hopes to venture more into the riding classes in 2019.  

This is Greg’s first year on the OQHA board of directors and also on the OAQHA board of directors. He looks forward to serving the membership.

Mary Moore

Director at Large

Mary Moore lives in Sarnia, Ontario. Mary was born into a family that raised and raced standardbreds so horses have always been a part of Mary's life. Mary has been an OQHA member and Area 1 member since 1994 and has been an Area 1 board member since 1999. Mary is retired from the Sarnia Police Service after 33 years as their Court Co-ordinator. Mary owns a quarter horse gelding named Huntin for Hotties aka Waylon!!
